Introduction
Field of “Architecture” is among the first majors of this Institute that admitted students at Associate Degree through the nationwide acceptance examination in 2006 of which motto was “Quality’’. Due to great diligence and strong sense of responsibility of the authorities at the Department of Architecture, the students and those involved in this field, the qualitative and quantitative education and research development of this Department has raised each year. Presently, organizing Associate degree, Non-continuous Bachelor’s degree, Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree programs in architecture and thanks to its initiative in holding national contests in architecture through collaboration of UNESCO and educational and practical workshops for promotion of the academic level of students and their preparation to arrive at the market, the Department of Architecture has changed to one of the most prominent departments.
As of its establishment date, raise of education quality and benefiting from the best professors graduated from Yazd University and other accredited universities of the country, this Department has been always concerned by the founders of the Department of Architecture. Teaching the most updated educational software besides academic books and benefiting from the most updated online education facilities are among the privileges of studying in this field. Extracurricular programs of this Faculty include the architectural contests at nationwide level, organizing “Rural Livelihood” courses for several days, holding the examinations of Sketch Courses and visitations which are all organized for the students of architecture to have a more desirable perception of architecture as profession. This Faculty has the honor to inform you that a great number of its students have been admitted to the most accredited universities of the nation including University of Tehran and they have obtained the Professional License from the Construction Engineering Organization.

It is evident that architecture of any nation reveals the manner of thinking and nobble culture and customs of an integrated nation. Associate degree is one of the Higher Education Courses of which goal is to educate the individuals who will be able to fill the specialty gap between an architectural engineer and lower specialized levels in construction and to work at technical offices and sites as assistants of the architectural engineer in designing building construction.
Applied Science and Technology in Architecture
Non-continuous Bachelor’s Degree
Non-continuous Bachelor’s Degree program in architecture has been developed aiming at directing the architectural education towards realization of the demands of the society and orientation of students with native and precise culture of architecture. The holder of a Bachelor’s degree of Applied Science and Technology in Architecture is an individual who enjoys the required knowledge and skills in the fields of architecture for fulfillment of design activity of designing residential, educational, cultural and office spaces.
Architectural Engineering
Bachelor’s Degree
Architectural Engineering is an interdisciplinary knowledge. Bachelor’s degree program in Architectural Engineering is a professional course where development of creative talents, exchange of general skills and knowledge in architecture and general efficiency in this field are targeted. This field enjoys two artistic and technical aspects. Hence, among the subjects offered in this field, there are certain courses such as design and aesthetics revealing the artistic aspect of this field and such subjects as concrete and steel structures and strength of materials that imply the technical aspect of this field. At bachelor’s degree level, technical aspects of architecture are more concerned. The graduates of this field may get engaged in building construction (technical design of various buildings). The individuals that graduate in the field of Architectural Engineering may sit for employment exams of different organizations and institutions and may also work at the open market. There is a wide range from establishment of a personal design office to collaborating with different architects and engineering companies whereat an Architectural Engineer may work depending on his/her capabilities and interests.
Interior Architecture

The field of Interior Architecture is one of the most significant academic disciplines that is nowadays taught at faculties of Engineering or Art throughout the world. The field of Interior Architecture deals with improvement of interior spaces of buildings to do daily activities (living and working). It may be actually said that Interior Architecture is to create space. On the one hand, like architecture, this field deals with buildings and their elements and on the other hand, the same as interior design, it emphasizes on interior spaces. Pragmatism and efficiency together with aesthetics are the most significant goals of the Interior Architecture. Graduates of Interior Architecture may establish a practice design office and directly cooperate with employers. On the whole, the persons who graduate in the relevant fields to architecture, may participate in employment exams of various organizations and institutions and may also work at the open market.
Restoration of Historic Buildings

Bachelor’s degree program of Restoration of Historic Buildings is one of the Higher Education courses of which goal is to train committed experts and specialists who are familiar with advanced methods of studying, repair and rehabilitation of valuable historic buildings and relics of the nation. Thanks to their efficiency and theoretical and practical knowledge, the graduates in this field are able to realize the need of the nation for maintenance, repair and rehabilitation of historic heritage. Due to registration of Yazd as a World Heritage City and considering desirable context of the Art and Architecture Campus in the historic texture of Yazd, this major may establish suitable grounds for existing market in the said city. Moreover, considering the government’s plans for cultural, social and economic development of the nation especially for rehabilitation of existing historic buildings and places, it is necessary to educate the specialists who are expert in repair and rehabilitation of historic buildings.
Iranian Architectural Studies
Master’s Degree
The field of Iranian Architectural Studies is a quite new and native major which has been ratified and started in order to educate the graduates for precise, profound and analytical study and compilation of native and historic architecture of Iran and to promote the knowledge of the group of architectural and urban planning experts by benefiting from the native experiences of Iran. The graduates of Architecture, Urban Planning, Restoration, Archeology and Art fields related to Architecture, Tourism, History and Sociology are highly recommended to continue their studies in this field.
Since the city of Yazd has been registered as a World Heritage Site, this field is highly welcomed in this city. Defined horizon at the market for the graduates is to work in the research areas. Due to a few number of graduates in this field and limited capacity for student admission to this field as well as huge quantity of unaccomplished researches in this area depicts a bright horizon for the graduates.

Organizing Vernadoc Courses

Having organized five international camps and benefiting from the professors and students of architecture from the European and Asian countries, Vernadoc Iranian has prepared and collected over 80 depictive works of historic buildings and relics subject of the camp in the cities of Yazd, Tabriz, Nashtifan and Kang Village. Great importance is attached to these relics as valuable scripts and patterns of the Iranian native architecture in form of technical drawings and maps at citable scales that can be utilized by the groups of experts. Moreover, more importance is given to these relics as artworks that encompass details and delicacies in drawing with great artistic significance.

The main goal of organizing the nationwide architecture contests is to modify the evaluation system in the field of architecture, to link design thought and executive experience, to pay attention to changing the means of evaluation, considering the creative and innovative thought and extension of fair competition among professions. Reviewing the results of contests reveal the raised creative designs by students within the framework of the existing limitations, change in role of education role of professor to consultant, deepened self-assessment of students, social adaptability and mental tranquility during the evaluation process.
